Transfiguration
by Fra Angelico
Painted c. 1440–1442 for Cell 6 of the Dominican Convent of San Marco in Florence, Fra Angelico's Transfiguration shows Christ radiant in white within a mandorla of light, arms outstretched, flanked by Moses and Elijah, while Peter, James and John fall back in awe below. Created as an aid to contemplation for the friar who lived and prayed in that cell, it remains one of the most serene images of divine glory in Western art. Giclée printed to order on enhanced matte art paper.
