Francesco Solimena
1657 – 1747
Francesco Solimena was a Neapolitan Baroque painter whose large devotional and historical canvases helped define southern Italian painting in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Trained in Naples and active for churches, courts, and private patrons, he combined theatrical light, crowded movement, and disciplined composition in altarpieces and sacred scenes.
