Sandro Botticelli

1444 – 1510

Sandro Botticelli was a Florentine Renaissance painter whose sacred images and mythological paintings are among the most recognizable works of the fifteenth century. Trained in Florence and active for Medici and ecclesiastical patrons, he brought lyrical line, tender expression, and devotional delicacy to paintings of the Virgin and Child, saints, and the life of Christ.
